Bliss Quotes and Tips

Go For What You Love

"Follow your bliss." -- Joseph Campbell

"When we are motivated by goals that have deep meaning, by dreams that need completion, by pure love that needs expressing, then we truly live life." -- Greg Anderson

"The important thing is not to think much, but to love much; and so, do that which best stirs you to love." -- Saint Teresa of Avila

"The only thing that stands between a man and what he wants from life is often merely the will to try it and the faith to believe that it is possible." -- Richard DeVos

"For all of us, the key is to pay close attention to which activities make us feel most alive and in love with life - and then try to spend as much time as possible engaged in those activities." -- Nathaniel Branden

"It is the soul's duty to be loyal to its own desires. It must abandon itself to its master passion." -- Rebecca West

What great dream do you hold for your life? How committed are you to bring it into being?

It's hard for some of us to believe that we're on this planet to seek our own happiness. We've been taught that this is selfish.

If we stop to reflect, however, we can see how this serves. When we're happy, we have more vitality. We're much more positive in our outlook. And best of all, we're more loving and generous to others when our own needs are met.

So when are you most happy? What represents 'bliss' to you? We're talking passion here, and passion comes from the heart. To set goals that are meaningful, we need to go to our hearts. Our heads tend to tell us to do what we've always done, what we think we should do or what other people want and expect us to do. Our heads tend to tell us that our dreams aren't realistic. But our hearts can tell us clearly how beautiful our lives can be.

How do you listen to your heart? Give yourself space, time, peace and quiet. Ask your heart a question. Be willing to be open and to listen for feedback. Your heart's desires may come in different forms at different times. The answer will be what you WANT to do. Always pay attention to how you feel and go for what feels good. If there's no desire and excitement for you around a goal, it's not coming from the heart. Go for more.

These questions might help:

  1. What do you love to do? E.g. teach, nurture, create, build, mediate, invent, organize. Our list of action verbs can help you intuitively connect with your most passionate activity.
  2. What gives you the greatest sense of meaning in life?

Your unique gift to the world will be found in those pastimes you love the most. How can you live your joy each day?
