You are the navigator of your ship. At least every 3 months, step back and review the voyage you are now on. Also consider plans for new destinations and new venues.

The Smart Review Questions below focus on aspirations, holidays, life lessons, life purpose – on what is most important to you.

Ideally, give yourself a day every 3 months for life planning. Really put your life under a microscope and do an in-depth review. Then get out the telescope to raise your sights and shoot for a new star.

Take a minute right now and mark in your calendar the same day every 3 months to do this important review.

TIP – Create 12 equal sized boxes on one page in your journal and write very short answers for each question. On the following 3 month intervals, keep adding your answers to the same boxes.

  1. What was your peak experience or accomplishment this last quarter or year? Why was this so meaningful?
  2. What was your main challenge? What blocks got in your way?
  3. What major areas of your life need more balance?
  4. Looking back over your experience, what would you consider to be the primary life lesson you are being invited to learn?
  5. What dreams and aspirations, both old and new, merit more attention?
  6. What time will you allocate for solitude, rest, relaxation, rejuvenation and/or fun?
  7. What areas of your career would you like to change?
  8. In what ways do you enjoy giving back to others?
  9. Do you have a sense of your life purpose? How can you live it more fully?
  10. What is your critical path towards more positive change, meaning and purpose in your life?
