Motivation Process on One Page
Connect with your passion and deep desires.
- List what does NOT motivate you in Box 1. What turns you off and drains your energy?
- For each answer in Box 1, write your underlying fear in Box 2.
- In Box 3 write your higher motives, qualities or learning that overcomes each of the fears listed in Box 2. For example, I get unmotivated when I have too much to do and I am too busy. I take on too much because I fear not being accepted. A higher motive would be to love, respect and accept myself first so I can say no to too many responsibilities.
- We are motivated when we tap into our passions. What are you passionate about? What could you be passionate about? Write in Box 4 what you love (or would love) to do or be.
- We are also motivated by what is meaningful for us. What do you stand for? What gives you meaning? What are your top values? Prioritize your top 5 in Box 5.
- When we understand how we can serve and help others, we can be inspired to contribute to life. What do you have to offer? Who and how can you help? (Box 6)
- Where are you unclear regarding life direction, goals, needs, etc.? (Box 7) When we are unclear, our energies scatter. It’s hard to be motivated when we don’t know what needs to be done.
- In Box 8 list names of people you trust who, individually or in a small group, could offer you ongoing support and inspiration.
- Review your worksheet and write down a few action steps you can take in Box 9. Consider also writing out a motivating affirmation. Be sure to write it in the present tense, e.g. "I feel more passion and vitality every day."
