“It’s only when we truly know and understand that we have a limited time on earth–and that we have no way of knowing when our time is up–that we will begin to live each day to the fullest, as if it were the only one we had.”
~ Elisabeth Kubler-Ross ~
It seems to be human nature that we wait till a major event shakes us up before we truly see clearly what matters in life.
We were hit by the invisible cosmic 2×4 when Patrice’s father, Jack, died suddenly of a heart attack in 2012. He had lived with us for 7 years, so not only did we lose a parent and a best friend, we also lost a precious member of our household.
Jack’s passing reminds us so powerfully not to take life for granted. Although we are immortal beings, our time on this planet is finite. We never know which day might be our last, or the last of someone we care about.
The two of us have responded differently to this big change in our lives. Unconscious impulses have been expressing through us. Patrice has been drawn to rest even more deeply in being rather than activity. John, on the other hand, has been quietly clearing space, releasing old items and ideas to make room for a new way of embracing life.
Both of us share a heightened need to clarify and live what is most important to us. We’ve always sought this, but now the imperative is much stronger.
We are sharing this experience with you so you might take initiative on your own to regularly ask yourself:
- What is important to me?
- What clutter and old stuff is getting in my way?
- If today were to be my last, what would I most want taken care of?
- How can I be of higher service to those in need around me?
- What inner guidance is whispering for my attention?
Can you find 20 minutes, once per week, to write answers to these questions and then act upon them, instead of waiting for that cosmic 2×4?
Let Higher Awareness guide you in this journey towards determining and making time for what is truly important to you.
